Now, besides using anchoring to create powerful states in yourself, can you also use it to create anchors of love, confidence, motivation and enthusiasm for other people? Of course you can!

If you are a salesperson, teacher, or if you are a parent, will it be useful for you to be able to shift the people you love and care about into different states using anchoring?

In my seminars for example, participants must walk over a 3 inch plank about one and a half storey high. And I had a student who lost his confidence the minute he reached the top. He looked down and his legs started shaking. What I did was I got him to go back into his most powerful state.

I got him to go back to the last time when he felt totally confident in doing something. And the minute I got him to reach the peak of his state, I kept touching his shoulder in a certain way and I said, “Yes!” touched his shoulder and said, “Yes!” touched his shoulder and said, “Yes!” . I did it consistently for about 10 to 20 times.

After I repeated the process, when he climbed up all the way to the top again, again he saw that plank and the fear came back. I touched his shoulder and said, “Yes!” and immediately his posture and his facial expression changed. He felt instantly calm and powerful. He just walked across confidently past the one and the half storey plank.

Remember I told you about how couples fall out of love after a few years? Well, Virginia Satir, well-known and world renowned family therapist, was able to get couples to fall deeply back in love again after just short sessions of therapy with her.

What she simply did was to create new, powerful anchors for these people. She would get the man and the woman to imagine going back to the first time they fell in love. She would get them to close their eyes and sit facing away from each other, so they would not be able to see each other.

She would then get them to imagine all the wonderful times they had together in the past. As they felt these great feelings of love, she would intensify these feeling between the couple. She would intensify these feelings till they felt the peak of the state. She would then get them to look at each other, open their eyes and see each other’’s face.

As she did this process over again and again, pretty soon, guess what happened? Those great feelings of love came back and the couples fell deeply in love again.

These few examples presented above are just some of the ways anchoring can aid us in our dally life. Spend some time learning more about anchoring; it is one of the main techniques taught in NLP.
